I’m excited to see our returning students and new students! It’s great to have our school family back together again!
This year I am going to streamline announcements through Parent Square since that is used by the rest of the campus.
You can also reach me through Seesaw. This is the place we can send messages and also you can see your student’s daily work and some fun class pics. It’s a great way to see what we’re doing every day! Be sure to sign up at www. https://app.seesaw.me/
Here on the blog I’ll give you an overview of what we’re working on each month. Our class follows the Texas standards developed for students with cognitive disabilities in accordance with STAAR Alternate 2. Please feel free to ask if you have any questions about anything we are learning!

The first month of school:
In Reading-we are using leveled books and working on stretching out words and reading with fluency.
In Writing-we are working on spelling our first and last names and writing or copying neatly.
In math-we are working on number sense, including counting, using tally marks, and place value.
In Science and Social Studies-we are reading our weekly newspaper (News2You) about the new Elio movie.
Our theme for August is: The Amusement Park.
*extra work/homework
Homework is not required but encouraged!
Math: We use a website that is specific to your student’s math level called Zearn. (www.zearn.org). Please ask me for your child’s login and password.
ELAR: You can review the sight word list in your student’s planner each week. Quizzes are on Fridays! Your student is reading 1:1 with me everyday at a book specific to their level. Please let me know if you are interested and I can send your child’s book home for extra practice.
